Casino Survivors
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
Disclaimer: This game was made during the Play Again game jam hosted by LevelUp Lab.
Inspired by atari games and old arcade cabinets, Casino Survivor is a top-down 2D shooter that offers a three-players online multiplayer (with two of these via local split-screen) with a very specific mechanic: while the host can see all the enemies in the map, the other two players can only see what the host shows them.
Moreover, if the host gets hit three times, it's game over.
The objective is to find the exit to the casino you're trying to rob, while avoiding enemy bullets and protecting the host. Defeating enemies will award you points, while getting hit will make you lose them.
This means that communication is key, whether it is verbal or through the in-game mechanics it's important to create strategies and protect each other.
The players can use three different classes, assigned statically on connection:
- The Recon, assigned to the host is armed with a flashlight that can direct the other players towards the enemies.
- The Gunner, assigned to the second player, is slower but can gun enemies down. Very useful to progress and to gain points.
- The Protector, assigned to the third player, is a very agile class that can use a shield to protect the others.
During your time in the casino you will also be able to find some modifiers that will enhance your gameplay. While we will not spoil you the fun in finding out what they do, here's a list with the name of the modifiers:
- Recon: Sonar pulse
- Gunner: Sharpshooter, Multitasker, Minigun, Terminator
- Protector: Perfect Protection, Havel's Shields
- Any: Frog Attack
We also offer a standalone version that allows three different clients to connect to the same game, bypassing the split-screen, although it hasn't been tested as thoroughly as the split-screen version so if you use it you may find more bugs.
